The Daily Krapht- Wes Youssi- “Crazy Train”
Wes Youssi is a Portland Oregon singer/songwriter who grew up listening to his grandmother’s Patsy Cline and Jim Revees records, which fueled his love for country music. In January he will be releasing his album, Down Low in January, and with two singles already released, there’s a lot to get excited for.
“Crazy Train” is the second single and the one we are sharing with you today. Now if you’re anything like me (or my mother) when you hear the words crazy train, images of Ozzy Osbourne will dance around in your head (I’ll let you determine whether or not that’s a good thing). Hit play at the bottom real quick, and let your mind be treated to something entirely new. “Crazy Train” by Youssi is a country to the bone honkey tonk track all about conflict in relationships. Youssi croons while the steel guitar soothes, and all of a sudden we are all transported a dive in the middle of nowhere and we never want to leave.
Giving us a little backstory about the song, Wes tells us,
“I’ve always felt that relationships are like forests; they have to burn down every five years in order to generate new growth. As hard as it is to disagree, you get nowhere concealing your emotions. The song is a conversation to a spouse, a summary of the arguments, admission of fault, and finally an acknowledgment of the positives.”
Down Low will be released January 19th on Never Lucky Records. You can catch Youssi and his band The County Champs this Friday at The One Horse Tavern in Gaston Oregon.
