The Daily Krapht- Youth- “Alright Kid”
Youth is the alternative/indie rock project fronted and founded by Julian Dente. Being surrounded by music all his life, Dente is a multi-instrumentalist, and had the ability to play without any formal instruction. As an adult, Dente has toured with Liza Anne, Animal Flag, and Body Origami, as well as opened for Dashboard Confessional during their five-night residency in Nashville. Later on this year Youth will release Blame, an album that has been years in the making.
“Alright Kid” is the third single that has been released off of the Blame album. Of the track Dente tell us,
“I wrote ‘Alright Kid’ about a relationship I watched from afar, two people bringing their own issues into the same room and clinging to the connection they had, however unhealthy it was. It’s a slightly sarcastic dramatization of a typical bad relationship, the lyric is trying to both comfort and give some perspective to how insignificant a seemingly overwhelming problem/situation is. You’re gonna be alright, kid”
Evoking a sense of nostalgia in not only music but even in his stage name is something that also seems to happen naturally.
“Alright Kid” is a great song to introduce yourself to Youth if you are unfamiliar with this uber talented musician. Dente’s vocals will grab your attention, and his lyrics will stay with you long after the song is finished playing.
