The Daily Krapht – Austin Miller – “Moving Along”
Last night I was covering an event for a local project called “Off the Grid – Greenville.” The site focuses on alternative culture in this conservative, white bread town, showcasing people and places you might not normally come in contact with. We were actually covering somebody who goes by the name of Hospitable Cat, as he hosts concerts at his house. When asked to cover the show last night, I looked and saw that the Cat had hosted some musicians we have covered before, and I was excited to see who he had playing. Introducing Austin Miller.
It took all of thirty seconds to realize that I made the right choice in getting out of the house. It was a solo acoustic show compared to the video below. However, it did not steal any thunder from what Miller offers. His quiet demeanor and soft sense of humor immediately put the crowd at ease, but it was his music that had us all leaning forward, yearning for more. There are singers and songwriters, but Miller is a storyteller. He weaves a tapestry with his lyrics and allows us to vividly “see” the song as it unfolds.
“Moving Along” happens to be off of Miller’s 2013 release More Than One Way. It features a full band, and one would hope that he does play live that way on occasion. “Moving Along” slides under the skin and slithers along the veins. Filmed live at Medusa Studios in Gainesville, FL, it showcases exactly why you should be paying attention to Austin Miller. If you like what you hear, seek out his latest release, Engine.
