The Daily Krapht – Glass Mansions – “Matches”

Glass MansionsDuring the Wordkrapht hiatus, there have been many artists we have covered regularly, who have continued to do what they do best. Create music.

Our friends in Glass Mansions, never seem to stop moving. Probably one of the hardest working bands we’ve worked with, they are constantly impressing us. We featured the track “Matches” back in April when it was first released, however with a new video for it, this kick-ass tune seemed like the perfect place for us to re-introduce ourselves to our readers.

Back in April, I wrote that “Jayna Doyle’s vocals prove once again that you don’t need to scream to show power. She makes it almost look effortless. This is the first released song since the addition of drummer Johnny Gornati. Along with Patrick Beardsley’s guitar work, there’s a definite edge that is more prominent than ever. Blake Arambula’s synths and keyboards tie it all together.” While we’re sure that Jayna and the boys have not abandoned the pop genre, this harder feel sure feels like a sweet spot for the quartet.

The video itself is a visual hammer, in that it paints a picture of the death of love. Mistakes have been made, possibly things have been said that could not be taken back, and what was a passionate, loving relationship has exploded. Can you hear the pained lover ask the question “did you get what you needed?” All the memories, all the happy moments go up in flames with one match.

Don’t miss Glass Mansions as they hit the road for the month of August. The Burritour starts at the Island Bar in Myrtle Beach on August 11th, and hits Tennessee, Missouri, Arkansas, Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and finishes as the New Music Confab in Charleston on the 25th.
