The Daily Krapht – We/Or/Me – “The Dusty Roads”
Bahhaj Taherzadeh is We/Or/Me. Born and raised in Dublin by his Iranian Father and Irish Mother; this self-taught musician is gearing up to release his first studio record, Everything Behind Us Is A Dream, and we have the first single off the yet to be released album to share with you today.
At one point in his life, Taherzadeh kept his music to himself and only a few close friends. After getting called onstage to perform one of his songs by Glen Hansard, he realized his path was clearly laid out for him. He released music in 2009, stealing time to record songs while his twin daughters slept at night, and caught the attention of NPR Music, Vashti Bunyan and producer Brian Deck.
His soon to be released album was produced by Adam Selzer (M.Ward, Decemberists) and will bring to mind the singer-songwriters of the 60’s and 70’s.
“The Dusty Roads” is our first taste of the album, and what a delicate and delicious morsel it is at that. There is something so sublime in the simplicity of acoustic guitar mixed with little flourishes of harmonica. Whether it reminds of Bob Dylan, or perhaps it’s so refreshing you don’t care who it reminds you of, “The Dusty Roads” is folk at its best.
Take a listen below, and stay tuned for more on We/Or/Me. Everything Behind Us Is A Dream will be released in January 2016 (aka next month).
