Skittish – Two Legs Bad

Founded by Jeff Noller, with the help of classically trained pianist and vocalist Brianna Tag, Skittish has placed their music in TV, charting on CMJ, as well as playing at festivals such as SXSW and Summerfest. Speaking about their steady climb, Noller tell us:

“Our ambitions are high but our integrity remains intact. The care we put into our song writing will be our legacy.”

Two Legs Bad is the band’s forthcoming album that will be released in a few short weeks. The album’s title was pulled from a line in George Orwell’s Animal Farm. It’s just one of the many literary, economic and historical references that can be found sprinkled throughout the album.

“Regarding The Wolf” opens the eclectic album with a groovy fierceness that will instantly get you hooked and keep you listening. “Shot In The Dark” happens to be the band’s first single released off the album (listen at the link below). Noeller and Tag’s vocal give and take and harmonies are equally alluring. Each song is just different enough that listeners will stay actively engaged but still cohesive to the Skittish sound. Whether you are in the mood for something upbeat, mellow, or something brand new, Two Legs Bad keeps us on our toes.

Though stylistically they may learn toward a folkish sound, putting them into one genre box would be doing them a great disservice. The bottom half of the album is more ethereal, closing with the track “Meet Your Maker”. Tag’s vocals are haunting and emotional as the song plays out like a sad carnival. The last words sung are chilling and will no doubt stay with you long after the last note is played:

“If you’re going to meet your maker, save the window seat for me”

Two Legs Bad is available now for pre-order. The album will be released on September 15th which is just around the corner! The band will host their album release show October 2nd at The Pourhouse.
