WORDKRAPHT Premiere – Rahim Quazi- Ghost Hunting
Quazi is an avid ghost enthusiast, so much so that he’s taken to using them as metaphors for the relationships in our lives. Whether it is those that are still living, those that have died, those we have left in the past, Rahim has woven this theme throughout his third full length album due out June 12th.
While making Ghost Hunting Rahim faced some tragic events. Between the passing of his step-mother, an unexpected divorce, he was forced to start a new life, all of which can be found within the pages of the album. Instead of creating a morose, pitty filled album filled with songs that make you want to cry “Enough already!” Rahim has created a beautifully surreal album that is enchanting, uplifting from beginning to end.
Pop music today has gotten a bad rap from those that assault our ears on America’s top 40. Take a listen to Ghost Hunting and hear Pop music done right. From warm piano chords, stripped down vocals and honest lyrics with little electronic flourishes this is meticulously created music that listeners can enjoy wherever they are.
While every song is exceptional, there are two in particular that really stand out on Ghost Hunting: “Dreaming” and “Flying Kites”.
“Dreaming” is an anxious, chilling track that will leave you with goosebumps. “Flying Kites” is an enchanting, orchestral song that will make you think you’re listening to Rufus Wainwright. Both are filled to the brim with emotion and passion. Though I will only mention two songs from the album, I can’t stress enough how important it is to listen to Ghost Hunting in its entirety. Quazi worked through some of the most difficult experiences for anyone to have to endure, and the fact that this collection of enchanting music came out of it is a testament to the artist that is thriving inside.
Ghost Hunting is a glimmer of hope, like that first smile after mourning. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. While we struggle to reach it, let’s listen to the music together.
Once again, the album will be available June 12th. The album release show will be June 17th at the Kessler Theatre in Dallas. Tickets are still available so don’t miss out!
