Band of Lovers – The Coast
Modern day troubadours Dave Strumfeld and Sabina Beachdell make up Band of Lovers, a duo originally from Upstate New York. With over 10 years of friendship and history between them, the two are currently in their second year of living and performing on the road.
Just this past Valentine’s Day Band of Lovers released their full length, debut album titled The Coast. Recorded in a cabin near Woodstock, New York, the album was made possible due to a successful crowd-sourcing campaign.
A full length album may seem overwhelming seeing as we are in the age of EP’s and singles, but The Coast will keep listeners engaged and enchanted from start to finish. Between the simplicity of troubadour style folk and lush orchestral arrangements is where you’ll find The Coast, and it’s a pretty great place to be.
The harmonies and give and take between Strumfeld and Beachdell are sublime, passionate and filled with personality. Each song flows seamlessly into the next almost as if it were a soundtrack to a journey they want to tell us about. As with any trip, the dips and turns make for a more interesting experience and with The Coast this is no exception. Between upbeat ditties to slower, tender ballads the album is balanced and cohesive. The tie-in between the intro of the opening track, “Little Car” and the outro, “The Field in the Coast” was a nice touch and really makes the album come full circle.
Catchy, whimsical and full of charisma; The Coast is a must own for anyone who is a fan of music made with love.
In support of the album, Band of Lovers have hit the road and will be in California, specifically The Cottonwood Restaurant in Truckee (2/19), Shine in Sacramento (2/20) & The Abbey in Santa Cruz (2/21). Anyone who is in the area is highly encouraged to attend. For everyone else, take a look at their dates to see if they are coming to a city near you.
The Coast is available now, check links at the bottom to purchase and connect with the band. Go forth and support with love!
