Will Weston – Heart of the Order
Will Weston recently released his second album with six of his talented friends and the result is something pretty spectacular. After spending a year on San Francisco’s live circuit (including the almighty Boom Boom Room), the band hunkered down at Nino Moschella’s Bird and Egg studios. What Weston accomplished in recording Heart of the Order was bottling the magic and energy of their live shows while also giving fans a coherent, polished and professionally made album.
Heart of the Order has a little something for everyone. With 10 instruments featured throughout, these guys know how to rock with a flugelhorn and handsaw. Whether you are looking for a groovy jazzy tune (“One Step” & “Quiet Spark” just to name two), contemplative ballad (“Trace of Your Flaws”) or just a great rock song (“Search Engine”) Will Weston has you covered. Heart of the Order is balanced, and well-rounded and most importantly is interesting and enjoyable from start to finish. Leaving us on a high note, Weston chose “Hands Up” to close out the album in the best way possible. After listening to this song, you can imagine how fun and rowdy the band’s live shows are. Anyone who is lucky enough to see these guys live, we highly recommend you do as soon as possible and as frequently as possible.
Proving they are more than just good for a good time, Weston has the lyrical chops to back it up. From a song-writing standpoint, this album is intriguing and captivating.
“I’ve been out here building something
nameless for the sake of finding you
and piecing things together in the dark
is far from easy work to do
there’s a fine horizon on the edge of town
I like to walk out to
and look upon the water
like a captain separated from his crew”
(lyrics taken from the track, “Tell Me”)
Singing of love lost, life and our ultimate demise, Heart of the Order features the emotional and lyrical depth that gives these songs that extra dose of passion and dimension. While you are grooving to the music, take a moment and read over the lyrics they so kindly shared.
Once again, Heart of the Order is available now through bandcamp. Buy it, share it, and enjoy it. Connect with Will Weston on Facebook to stay up to date with show announcements and new music.
