The Daily Krapht – PARC HOTEL – “Forest”
Parc Hotel, the independent, ambient, instrumental group from Smolensk, Russia, who Wordkrapht first reviewed back in April of last year, released their new single “Forest” in late December to put a cap on a creative year, while ushering in the new. Staying true to their last EP’s M.O., “Forest” is a brooding, yet uplifting piece of ambient rock that shows the band determined to create a mood through their playing.
The track wastes no time in getting started as it jumps right into a short, but sweet guitar line that sets the tone for the rest of the song. The drums are simple, but hypnotic as they lay down the beat for the guitarists to go back and forth over, all the while with the bass perfectly in tow. The band creates a delicate dance of sound that builds to a peaking crescendo as the song marches to its conclusion.
With “Forest,” Parc Hotel continues to create unique sound that blends ambience with rock, with intricate instrumentation that succeeds at creating the mood it sets out to make, and all the while barely causing listeners to move with more than a gentle head nod.
