The Daily Krapht – Black Carl – “Grass Castles”
Black Carl is Arizona’s quintessential desert soul band. In 2013 they shared the stage with The Flaming Lips and Wiz Khalifa at the True Music Festival, and also got to play with fellow Arizona favorites Jimmy Eat World. With over 7,000 likes on Facebook and a mini tour under their belt, the future is looking very promising for these desert dwellers. Our Daily Krapht today features a live performance of Black Carl performing their single “Grass Castles” at The Crescent Ballroom on their last show of 2013. Emma Pew’s vocals fit the bill for any band who wants a dream female lead vocalist- raspy, strong and versatile with very warm tones. Anyone can see (and hear) she is the real deal and means business when she sings. “Grass Castles” has just the perfect amount of groove to it so you can dance while not spilling your drink (see fellow show goers for examples of how to get down properly to the song).
For any fellow Arizona residents who are unaware of this talented band, now is the time to enlighten yourself. New show dates have not been posted yet so check their social media pages for updates. For everyone else The Wheel is their latest full-length album available and is available now on iTunes.
